| C6H5CH3. Synthesized
by extraction (using solvent) followed by purification of pyrolysis
gasoline evolved from NCC process. Although it is a methyl-substituted
benzene, the benzene ring is susceptible to electrophilic substitution
due to the electron-donating methyl branch. Its 2,4,6-trinitro derivative
(TNT; tri-nitro-toluene) is a well known explosive agent. |
